A storyboard shows each shot of your video in order, before you spend a rupee on the shoot. You do not need to draw well. Stick figures and arrows work, because the sheet is there to plan the shot, not to look pretty.
Which template to pick
Use the 6 panel sheet when you want room to write notes, such as for an ad, a song or a key scene. Use the 12 panel sheet for a longer sequence, or for planning a whole reel on one page.
How to fill in a storyboard
- Write the project and scene at the top.
- Break your script into shots, one idea per panel.
- Draw who is in the frame and where they stand.
- Note the shot size, such as wide, medium or close.
- Add the camera move and what we hear.

The panels are 16:9. For a reel or a short, draw a tall box inside each panel and keep the same notes under it.
