Compress Image

Make photo files smaller without changing their pixels, one photo or many. It runs on your device.

Compress Image makes your photo files lighter so they send faster and take less space. The width and height stay the same. It runs on your device, so nothing is uploaded.

What it does

Photos often carry more data than anyone can see. This tool saves each photo again at a lower quality setting and shows you the result beside the original. You can add up to 50 photos at once.

When to use it

  • You want to send photos on WhatsApp or email faster.
  • A website or form says the file is too heavy.
  • You have many photos to shrink in one go.
  • You need an exact KB limit or a new size in pixels: use Resize Image. You need another file type: use Convert Image.

Step by step

  1. Press Choose photos and pick one photo, or up to 50. HEIC photos work too.
  2. Under How small, pick Best quality, Balanced or Smallest file.
  3. Under Format, leave Best for the photo, or pick JPG or WebP.
  4. Press Compress.
  5. Drag the slider to compare Before and After. Check the size line.
  6. Press Download. For many photos, press Download all as a zip.

ControlWhat it does
How smallBest quality keeps the most detail. Balanced is the middle. Smallest file is the lightest.
FormatBest for the photo keeps a WebP photo as WebP when your browser can write it, and turns every other photo into JPG. JPG or WebP forces that type.
CompressStarts the job, one photo after another.
Add moreAdds more photos, up to 50 in all.
Start overClears the photos and the results.
DownloadSaves one result.
Download all as a zipSaves all results in one zip file.
Save to AssetsIn the app, saves one result to your Assets.

The result shows the new size in pixels and KB, the old size, and how many percent smaller it is.

Who can use it

Free plan: included. Pro plan: included.

What it costs

Free. It runs on your device, so it uses no credits.

Tips

  • Start with Balanced. Most people see no change. Use Smallest file only when you must, and check the slider for soft fine detail.
  • A PNG with see through areas gets a white background, because the result is a JPG or WebP.
  • If you add more than 50 photos, the tool keeps the first 50. Add the rest in a second round.
  • Many photos at once use your phone's memory. If a phone struggles, do them in smaller groups.

Common problems

"This photo is already small, so we kept your original." The file was already well compressed. We keep your original rather than give you a bigger file.

"Try a JPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC photo." This comes after "We could not open" and the file name. The tool cannot read that file.

"is too large for this device. Try a smaller size." This comes after the file name. The photo is too big for your device's memory. Close other tabs and try again, or use Resize Image first.

"This one failed" shows against a photo in a batch. The others still finish. Try that one again on its own.
