Convert Image

Change photos between JPG, PNG and WebP, and open HEIC photos, on your own device.

Convert Image changes the file type of your photos. It runs on your device, so nothing is uploaded. HEIC photos from an iPhone can be turned into JPG, PNG or WebP.

What it does

Each file type suits a different job. JPG works almost everywhere. PNG keeps see through areas and sharp text. WebP is small, which is good for websites. You choose a type, and the tool saves every photo you added in that type. You can add up to 50 photos at once.

When to use it

  • A form or an app does not accept the file type your phone made, such as HEIC.
  • You need a PNG for a logo or a graphic, or a WebP for a website.
  • You have many photos to change in one go.
  • To make the picture smaller in pixels or KB, use Resize Image or Compress Image.

Step by step

  1. Press Choose photos and pick one photo, or up to 50. HEIC, JPG, PNG and WebP photos all open.
  2. Under Convert to, pick JPG, PNG or WebP.
  3. Press Convert.
  4. Drag the slider to compare Before and After.
  5. Press Download for one photo, or Download all as a zip for many.

What it costs

Free. It runs on your device, so it uses no credits.

Tips

  • Pick JPG for sharing and PNG for logos and sharp text.
  • A JPG has no see through areas, so they turn white. Pick PNG or WebP to keep them.
  • Changing a type does not change the pixels. The photo keeps its width and height.
  • You cannot save to HEIC. You can open HEIC photos and turn them into the other three.
  • If you add more than 50 photos, the tool keeps the first 50.

Common problems

"Try a JPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC photo." This comes after "We could not open" and the file name. The tool cannot read that file. Check that it is a photo.

"is too large for this device. Try a smaller size." This comes after the file name. The photo is too big for your device's memory. Close other tabs and try again, or use Resize Image first.

"This one failed" shows against a photo in a batch. The others still finish. Try that one again on its own.
