Cartoon Character
Design your own cartoon characters, train them to look the same every time, and give them looks and a voice.
This page shows you how to make a cartoon character in Cartoon Character. You describe it in a few words, train it, and then use it in your stories.
What it does
Cartoon Character is your library of cartoon characters. You describe one in a few words and an original look is written for you, free. When you train it, three sheets are drawn: a model pose, a turnaround and an expression chart. These sheets keep it the same in every picture.
When you lock a character, it works in every tool under My Models. A character can also have looks, which are changes of clothes, and one voice that follows it into every story.
When to use it
- You want a mascot, a kid hero or a family of characters for many cartoons.
- You want the same character in all your stories.
- You want the same character to wear different clothes.
To keep your cartoons and their casts in one place, use Story Library. To make one cartoon from one line with new characters, use Cartoon Maker.
Step by step
Make a character
- Open Cartoon Character from the menu.
- Press New character.
- Type a Name, or leave it and we pick one. Describe the character under What is this character like? For example: "A round, always hungry school boy with a steel tiffin box".
- Pick a Show style and a Role.
- Press Design character. Designing is free.
You land on the character's page, with its look written out. Read it and change anything you like.
Train and lock it
- On the character page, press Train character. The price shows on the button.
- Wait. The three stages, Model pose, Turnaround and Expressions and mouths, fill in one by one.
- When the state says Ready to lock, look at the sheets. Press a sheet to open it large.
- Press Lock character. It is now Trained and locked.
Give it a look
- Open the Looks tab. It needs a model pose first.
- Press New look. Type a name, such as "School dress", and the outfit, such as "Blue school uniform with a red tie".
- Press Draw look. The price shows on the button.
- When it is ready, press Make default if this should be the usual outfit.
Pick a voice
- Open the Voice tab.
- Press the play button to hear a voice, then press its name to pick it.

The Character details form has Name, Personality, Catchphrase, Body and shape, Signature colour, Outfit, Prop, Face and Never changes. Press Save to keep your changes.
Before the character is locked, a change to the look words starts the sheets again. After it is locked, the look is fixed and the look words are greyed out. New clothes go in Looks.

What it costs
Designing a character is free. You pay when you train it: the price on Train character counts only the sheets still missing. A look costs one picture, and its price shows on New look and Draw look. A sheet or a look that fails is refunded.
Saving details, picking a voice and locking are free.
Tips
- Say the one thing that makes the character special: "always hungry", "steel tiffin box".
- Fix the look words before you train. Changing them later starts the sheets again.
- Fill Never changes with what must stay the same, such as a red cap.
- Make looks for school, festival and night, and pick a default.
- Use your own character names. Famous cartoon characters are blocked.
- A locked character shows under My Models in every tool.
Common problems
"Write one line about your show first." Type a name or a few words about the character. "We make original cartoons only" The message names the word that cannot be used and suggests another. Use your own name and design. "Draw every sheet before you lock the cast." Train the character first, and wait for all three sheets. "The cast is locked. Start a new series to change it." A locked character does not change its look. Duplicate it to make a new one. "This was deleted more than 15 days ago and cannot come back." Restore it within the 15 days. "Nothing matches. Clear the search or pick another filter." Clear the search box or press All. "Cartoon characters can only use the fictional kids voices." Pick a voice from the Voice tab.
