Connect an App Without a Browser
Let a desktop app or plugin sign in with a short code the person allows at kritiverse.com/link, and get its own key.
This page is for apps that run on a person's computer and have no browser of their own, such as a plugin. The Public API supports the device sign in of RFC 8628. The apps it opens to today are Premiere Pro, After Effects and DaVinci Resolve.
Step by step
- The answer has
user_code,verify_url,verify_url_complete,device_code,intervalandexpires_in. - Show the
user_code, and openverify_url_completein the person's browser. - The person signs in, reads what the app will be able to do, and presses Allow.
- When it is allowed, the answer has
token, akvk_key. Keep it in the system's own secret store.
Every option explained
While you wait
Until the person answers, the poll returns an error, which is how you know to keep waiting:
| Code | What to do |
|---|---|
authorization_pending | Poll again after interval seconds |
slow_down | You polled too soon. Wait longer. |
access_denied | The person refused. Stop. |
expired_token | The ten minutes are over. Start again. |
The key
The key can be collected once. It has the usual spend caps, and it shows in the API tab with its app's name, where the person can stop it at any time.
Common problems
The person sees a lock on the page
The account is not on a plan with the API. See plans.
