Kriti Cut

Kriti Cut is a video editor that runs in your browser. You cut, add titles, music and effects, and export a finished video.

What it does

You build an edit on a timeline with video, image, text and audio tracks. Your own footage stays on your computer: it is read by the browser and never uploaded. Your edit is saved in this browser while you work, and it can also be backed up to your account when your plan allows it.

You can also bring in things you made in Kritiverse: pictures and clips from your Library, voices from the Voice tool, and a whole board sent from Storyboard.

When to use it

• You shot a Reel, Short or YouTube video and want to trim it, add titles and music, and export it.
• You made clips with AI and want to join them with voices, music and captions.
• You want a quick festival post or sale reel from a ready template.

To make a short video from a prompt, use Video. To make captions only, Kriti Caption is faster.

Step by step

Make your first edit

1. In the menu, open Kriti Cut. The page opens on My edits.
2. Press New YouTube video (16:9), New Reel or Short (9:16) or New square post (1:1).
3. In the Media tab, press Import from computer and choose your clips, pictures or music. If the browser asks again after a reload, press Allow access to your footage.
4. Press the plus on a card, or drag it, to put it on the timeline.
5. Move the playhead to where a clip should be cut. Press Ctrl B, or right click the clip and choose Split. Delete the part you do not want. On the extra tracks, Ripple delete closes the gap.
6. Open Titles, Transitions, Filters, Effects or Stickers and press the plus on what you like. Press a clip, then use the Inspector on the right to change it.
7. Press Export. Choose resolution, frame rate and quality, then press Export again. The finished file saves to your computer.

Bring in footage from your Library

1. In Media, open the Library category.
2. Press the plus on any picture or video you made. It joins the project as a Library file.
3. A clip from the Library can also get Auto captions (see below).

Add voice, music and sound

1. Open the Audio tab. Music holds the audio you imported.
2. Press Import audio to add a file from your computer.
3. Under Make with AI: press Voice over, Sound FX, Music, Clean audio or Change voice to make it in the Voice tool. When the result is ready, use its button for the editor to bring it back to an audio track.

Add captions to a Library clip

1. Press the clip on the timeline, open the Audio tab in the Inspector and press Auto captions.
2. Read the price and press Make captions. The clip's speech turns into caption clips on the timeline.

Overlays on a computer

The layers button in the timeline bar opens the same overlay choices as the phone, and the box on the preview moves, resizes and turns the selected clip. A clip dropped over another goes on a new lane above.

The whole window

On a computer or tablet, Kriti Cut fills the browser window, with none of the site around it. The arrow at the top left saves your edit and takes you back. To fill the whole screen too, open View, Browser full screen, and press Esc to leave it.

The menu bar beside the arrow has the common commands, with their keyboard shortcuts:

Click a menu to open it. While one is open, move the pointer to another menu to switch. The arrow keys, Enter and Esc work too. An item that does not apply yet is greyed out. For example, Split needs the playhead on a clip.

Cut, Copy and Paste work on one clip at a time. Paste puts the copy at the playhead, on the same track if there is room, or on a new one. Ctrl X, Ctrl C and Ctrl V do the same, or Cmd on a Mac.

On a phone

Kriti Cut on a phone opens a layout made for touch, and a project opens the same on a phone and a computer.

• Lanes: the Main video sits low in the stack with Overlay and Subtitle lanes above it, and a higher lane shows in front in the preview. Original sound and Music sit under the video.
• Adding: tap + at the left of a lane, or tap the empty lane. The buttons at the left and Cover stay in place while the tracks scroll under them.
• Overlays: the Overlay + offers Video as PiP, Image, Sticker, Text and Logo, from your phone, the Library, Assets or Kriti Cloud. A video or picture lands small in a corner. Clips one after another share a lane, and a clip that overlaps another goes on a new lane above.
• On the preview: with a clip selected, drag it to move it, drag a corner to resize it, and drag the top handle to turn it. Two fingers pinch and twist anywhere on the preview. A drag close to the middle lands on the centre. To bring a clip back to the centre, open its Video tools and reset X.
• Overlay tools: Move and size, Crop, Blend, Fade, Sound on or off, Bring forward and Send back. Move and size has keyframes on each value.
• Moving through the edit: swipe sideways and the playhead stays in the middle. Pinch with two fingers to zoom. Swipe up or down when there are more lanes than fit.
• Editing a clip: tap it to select it, and its tools appear in the bar at the bottom. Drag the handles to trim. Press and hold a clip, then drag it to move it, or drag it to the Overlay lane to make it picture in picture.
• Top bar: Help, the ratio picker, More for the project name, and Export.
• Under the preview: previous cut, play, next cut, project settings, undo and redo.
• Cover: tap Cover beside the Main lane and pick the frame for your project card.
• Sound: the speaker left of Original sound mutes every Main clip.

Captions from Kriti Caption and Clip Maker

Edit more in Kriti Cut and Open in Kriti Cut bring your captions across in the style you chose: the font, colours, animation, word highlight and position, with each word lit at the time it is spoken.

• Change a line: tap it, then open Text. You can change the words, colour, Word highlight, size, font, weight, case, italic and position. Press Apply to all captions to use those on every line.
• Change the words: the look stays. If you add or remove words on a line, its words light up evenly across the line.
• Use a Kriti Cut style instead: pick a style in the Text tools. That line takes the new look.
• Pro styles: a Pro style needs a plan that includes it, as it does in Kriti Caption.
• Older projects: captions you brought across before 1 November 2026 stay as plain text. Send them again from Kriti Caption to get the style.

Top bar

Tool tabs

The tabs run in one row above the panel on the left. If they do not all fit, the row fades at the edge. Scroll it sideways, use the mouse wheel over it, or press Tab and then the arrow keys. The Effects and View menus open the same panels. Where a tab has sections, such as Project media and On this computer, they are listed down the side of the panel.

Workspaces

There are two workspaces. Pick one with the two small layout buttons in the top bar, or in the View menu.

A 9:16 project opens in Tall. When you change the ratio to 9:16 or 16:9, the workspace changes with it.

Player

Each tab has a search box and categories. Press the plus on a card, or drag it to a track.

Player

Play or pause (Space), Stop, Back one frame, Forward one frame and Full screen.

Inspector

With nothing picked, Project info shows the name, resolution, ratio, frame rate, duration, tracks and where files live. Pick a clip to get tabs for it:

Timeline

Use Add text, Snap, zoom out and zoom in. Each track can be locked, muted or hidden. Keys: Space plays, left and right arrows step one frame, Shift with an arrow steps ten, Home and End jump, I and O set a loop, M adds a marker, S turns snap on or off, J and L play backwards or faster, plus and minus zoom, and Ctrl B splits.

The clip menu has Split, Duplicate, Delete, Ripple delete, Detach audio, Reset, Copy attributes and Paste attributes.

Export sheet

Cloud backup

When your plan allows it, the status line adds backed up, backup waiting for the network or not backed up: this edit stays in this browser. If an edit changed on two devices you see Keep mine, Keep theirs or Keep both.

Who can use it

Free plan: included. Pro plan: included.

Plan limits apply to the export: the top resolution, the longest edit, and a 2 second end card on some plans.

What it costs

The editor and exports are free. Kriti Cut only uses credits for things made by other tools: Auto captions is 5 credits, and voices, sound effects and music cost what their own tool shows. The price appears before you confirm.

If captions fail, the sheet says your credits went back.

Tips

• Turn Snap on so clips meet without gaps.
• Use Detach audio to edit a voice apart from its picture.
• Press Copy attributes on a clip you like, then Paste attributes on others.
• Keep a .kvproj copy of important edits. It is a small file with your cuts, not your footage.
• Start with the right workspace for the ratio. Tall gives a 9:16 project more room.

Common problems

"This browser cannot play" one of your files. Convert it to MP4 (H.264) and import it again.

"Media offline" The file was moved or the browser forgot it. Press Relink, or Relink a folder to find many files at once.

"Export waits until every clip is online." Relink the files listed, then export.

"Add a video, an image or a title first." The timeline is empty.

"The export stopped. Try a lower resolution or the other format." Pick 720p or 1080p and export again.

"This browser does not allow saving here (private window?). Edits will not be kept after you close the tab." Use a normal window.

"Cloud backup is full for your plan. Edits stay saved in this browser." Delete old edits or choose a larger plan.

"Captions did not work. Your credits went back." Try again, or use a clearer clip.

"No speech was found in this part of the clip." Pick a part of the clip that has talking.
