Resize Image
Set a size in pixels, cm, percent or KB for one photo or many. It runs on your device.
Resize Image changes the size of your photos and saves them as JPG, PNG or WebP. It runs on your phone or computer, so your photos are not uploaded.
What it does
You set a size in pixels, a print size, a percent or a file size in KB. The tool redraws each photo at that size and shows you the result next to the original. Add up to 50 photos and it does them all, then gives you a zip.
When to use it
- An online form asks for a photo under 50 KB or 100 KB.
- A shop listing or social post needs an exact size.
- You need a photo at a print size, such as 4 x 6 inch, with the right DPI.
- To only make a file lighter at the same pixels, Compress Image is simpler. To change the file type only, use Convert Image.
Step by step
- Press Choose photos and pick one photo, or up to 50. HEIC photos from an iPhone work too.
- Under Resize by, pick Pixels, Print size, Percent or File size.
- Enter the size, or press one of the Quick sizes.
- Under Format, pick JPG, PNG or WebP.
- Press Resize. Drag the slider to compare Before and After.
- Press Download. For many photos, press Download all as a zip.
Every option explained
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Resize by | The way you set the size: Pixels, Print size, Percent or File size. |
| Width and Height | In Pixels, the size in pixels. In Print size, the size in the unit you pick. |
| Keep the shape | The lock between Width and Height. Locked, one number sets the other. In a batch, each photo keeps its own shape at that width. Unlock it to set both. |
| Quick sizes | In Pixels: Instagram post, Instagram portrait, Story or Reel, YouTube thumbnail, WhatsApp DP, Facebook cover. In File size: 20, 50, 100, 200 and 500 KB. |
| Unit | cm, mm or inches, in Print size. |
| DPI | In Print size, 72 to 600. In the other ways, Leave as it is, or 72, 150, 200 or 300. It is written into JPG and PNG files. |
| Percent of the original size | A share of the original, up to 400. |
| Maximum (KB) | The most the file may weigh. |
| Minimum (KB), optional | The least it may weigh, for forms that ask for a range. It is reached by padding a JPG, and the picture does not change. |
| Fit | Shown when you set both sides: Keep all of it, Crop to fill or Add a border. It starts on Crop to fill. |
| Border colour | The colour of the border, for Add a border. |
| Format | JPG, PNG or WebP. WebP is hidden in browsers that cannot write it. |
| Add more and Start over | Add photos to the batch, or clear everything. |
| Save to Assets | In the app, saves one result to your Assets. |

Tips
- For a small KB limit, crop close to the face first. A tighter photo keeps more detail at the same size.
- In File size, the tool lowers the quality first. If that is not enough, it also makes the picture smaller in pixels, and tells you.
- PNG has no quality setting. For a small file size, pick JPG.
- A JPG has no see through areas, so they turn white.
- A form that gives a limit in KB may count 1,000 or 1,024 bytes. The tool counts the upper limit as 1,000 bytes to the KB, which is the safer reading.
Common problems
"Enter a size first." Fill in Width, Height or Percent before you press Resize.
"Enter the maximum size in KB." In File size, type a number in Maximum (KB).
"The minimum must be below the maximum." Lower the minimum, or raise the maximum.
"That is too large." The longest side can be up to 8000 pixels. Pick a smaller size.
"We could not reach your limit." The photo cannot get that small at a usable quality. Try a higher limit. The message gives the closest size.
"This is bigger than the original, so it may look soft." You asked for more pixels than the photo has. Pick a smaller size if the result looks blurry.
"Try a JPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC photo." This comes after "We could not open" and the file name. The file is not a photo the tool can read.
